TOKYO --- Japan opened its first national museum dedicated to World War II yesterday, commemorating the hardships of the country's civilians without mentioning the cause of the war or atrocities by Japanese soldiers.

The museum has stirred controversy between conservative groups and critics, who said it should incorporate evidence of Japan's wartime aggression and acts of brutality.

The museum skips topics such as Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor and the sexual slavery and biological experiments on human captives that took place in areas under Japanese control.


And then there was this story which appeared in the Baltimore SUN on 3-28-99:

TOKYO --- The Japanese government is trying to rehabilitate the flag of the rising sun and the national song of praise for the emperor, giving them legal status despite criticism that in World War II they were emblematic of Japanese militarism.

Prime minister Keizo Obuchi is preparing legislation to make them the national flag and national anthem, although it is unclear when the bill might become law.

n.b. What is it about the Japanese government and Japanese corporations (like Shimadzu) that think that they can LIE, DENY & CONCEAL and that no one will be the wiser? Do you think that a little of this innate behavior has rubbed off on the lowlifes working for Shimadzu subsidiaries around the world?

n.b. Let's put it this way.... if it is not part of your character to LIE, DENY and CONCEAL, then you won't last in the Shimadzu organization! However, if you covet these loathsome qualities, then you will do just fine in the Shimadzu family. Just wear your butt plug every day to thwart a surprise salami attack in the Shimadzu workplace!
